Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. Replacement metal lid. One small hairline crack to upper rim where lid sits. Two small chips to side of spout.
Subject: Finely decorated underglaze blue and white (sometsuke) design of a boat in a storm, the rain drops illustrated as straight lines, the smiling passengers holding umbrellas (kasa) to try to stay dry. Nearby, waves crash against rocks (and the spout), and three plovers (chidori) fly over the waves. A rain dragon decorates the handle.
