Origin/Maker: Arita Imari ware, Arita, Japan. Maker's mark on base imitating Chinese Ming dynasty Chenghua mark. Right side of mark is 大明萬 (Da Ming Wan)
Porcelain with marks imitating Chinese marks of the Ming period were made at the Arita kiln during the 19th century and possible both earlier and later.
Size: 10" long (25.4 cm), 6 3/4" wide (17.145 cm)
Weight: 12.9 oz (366 g)

Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. Upper fin has a large crack from where a piece was glued. Several small chips along edge. Yellow stained internal hairline crack on top of tail (probably original to manufacture). Two original to manufacture stilt marks under tail.
Subject: Plate in shape of fish, decorated with underglaze blue and white (sometsuke). Underside has blue designs of waves.
