"Hamasaka ware is a kiln located in Hamasaka, Tottori City, and is also known as Utsurodani because it was located there. It was active from the Bunsei to Tenpo eras, but the early Hamasaka kilns were not successful and it seems to have closed after a short time. After that, they started producing porcelain and the business stabilized, leaving behind works of porcelain and pottery. This item is a sake vessel made at the end of the Edo period. It is unique and not seen in other kilns, and it seems to be the prototype of Minagawa Masu painting.
As this item is soft pottery, it is a valuable item even if it remains, and it was probably stored in a storehouse. It is a piece that is rarely encountered, so please enjoy it as an object of appreciation and use."
