Origin/Maker: Tentatively Kutani ware, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Unsigned. The green and yellow glazes are typical for old Kutani ware (Ko-Kutani). But Kutani netsuke are rare, so it's hard to compare.

Subject: Ceramic pottery katabori (sculptural) netsuke of Hotei, one of the Japanese Seven Lucky Gods of Good Fortune, with yellow, green, and brown glazes. Tentatively Kutani pottery. Cord hole (himotoshi) in the back, which connects through to the open bottom.
