Origin/Maker: Takeo ware (a type of Karatsu ware), Takeo city, Saga Prefecture, Japan. Unsigned. With labeled box (tomobako). One of the labels says 古武雄 (Ko-Takeo (Old Takeo)).
Takeo ware (武雄焼) is a type of Japanese pottery originally from Takeo, Saga, western Japan.
The history dates back to the end of the 16th century during the Japanese invasion of Korea. Korean ceramic artists came with the lord of Takeo and started ceramic production in that area. This type of pottery is called Ko-Takeo (old Takeo).
Today around 90 kilns exist in the town and area.

Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. Cracks repaired with kintsugi (gold joining) and missing pieces repaired with yobitsugi (repairs using dissimilar pottery shards, in this case apparently with Karatsu ware pieces). Some of the kintsugi lacquer is a little loose or raised up around the edges. Chips to bottom edge of upper rim of bowl. Five original to manufacture stilt marks on top and bottom.
