Origin/Maker: Banko ware, Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, Japan. Maker's mark under rear handle loop, marked "光一" (Koichi?) inside a tea jar (tsubo) shaped mark.

Condition: Item is used in good condition commensurate with age, see photos. Two small chips to underside of lid.
Subject: Made to look like a five-sided cast iron tetsubin. With a free spinning lid handle (a trick of some Banko wares), with a Mt. Fuji design on the sides of the lid handle, and a design of cranes under the lid. Inside the teapot is a small ball with a loose piece inside that rattles around a bell when the teapot is dry, another unusual trick feature. The handle is presumably a new replacement.
