Origin/Maker: Japan. Very faded writing on base, probably a mark from a previous collector, appears to say "Gyozan" or something similar.

Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. Several cracks with several small chips to the enamel. One dent to the upper rim and lower rim
Subject: High quality detailed decorations of a bird in a cherry tree among blossoms (sakura), above a collection of other flowering plants (chrysanthemums (kiku), iris (suiren), roses or peony (botan), bellflower (kikyo), and others, on a black background. Note the small decoration on the reverse as well.
