Condition: Item is used in fair condition commensurate with age, see photos. Several small cracks near where the man attaches to the mokugyo. It looks like the tip of one of his feet may have broken off. Some wear and staining.
Subject: Netsuke of a man (or a Karako boy) holding a striker, standing next to a giant mokugyo (wooden fish gong / bell), which is on top of a zabuton pillow. The inside of the mokugyo is carved out, like an actual mokugyo (though this one doesn't 'gong' very much when struck). Pair of himotoshi (cord holes) under the pillow on the base. It's no longer obvious, but even the bottom of the pillow under the mokugyo has a carved pattern, in imitation of sewn sashiko patterns on a pillow.
